Extremely honest question about pitching to Trout

Why wouldn't you just walk him every time to get to Pujols?  I mean, unless you have a huge lead, why pitch to the best player in baseball when the guy behind him is hitting .230-.240 and looks overmatched on 89 mph fastballs?

Why would you ever pitch to the best player in baseball?

Because they are not smart.

If we were any good he'd get pitched to a lot less. His homeruns usually count as 1 run and his hits, 0 so they take their chances.
