You may be right but I'm not seeing it. I do see the possibility that Chavez at some point going to the bullpen.

Eppler got Nolasco and Myers for Santiago and I can see him flipping Nolasco for another Myers-type pitcher.  Myers development reminds me of Randy Johnson's development in that it might take him a bit longer than the typical pitcher to find his arm slot and repeatable motion.  Based on Eppler's scouting staffs ability to find pitchers, I would trust his judgement.  Some team out there could use a Nolasco or Chavez (pen) for the last part of the season.

A Meyer-type for Nolasco would be a stretch....We don't have anybody on MLB TradeRumors top 60 deadline deal candidates....That's an opinion piece so we'll see how accurate it is over the next few weeks.  But I wouldn't expect a ton back if we trade Nolasco....At this point, given our injuries, I'd probably just keep him and see what happens.  If I'm wrong and Eppler gets a decent offer for him, I'd consider it...

By the way, look at Nolasco's career ERA and WHIP compared to this year.  Spooky how guys revert to their "norm".  Similar with Maybin this year.

This should not keep the Angels from trading Nolasco or Chavez.  It might change what the Angels are wanting in return.

Could we get anything in a trade of those two?  Jump on it if we could get anything of value.

I get that Chavez has potential bullpen value, but what team out there is looking for a #12 starter for their stretch run and playoffs?

A fringier contender like the Rockies or Blue Jays may have interest in someone like Chavez, just to give them insurance/depth for the stretch run in both the pen and the rotation.

Neither of those teams are certain enough playoff locks that they may want to mortgage their future, but don't want to totally give up on their season either. Someone like Chavez gives them a bit of a cushion if a SP rolls an ankle. In fact, if Chavez wasn't already here, he'd be the type of player I could see the Angels targeting.

These types of pitchers almost always get dealt at the deadline. They aren't very good, but teams need all the help they can get in Aug/Sept. With the health issues on our rotation though, it'll be very difficult to move Nolasco or Chavez - it'd have to be a nice return - and those types usually don't pull that. That is the reason I don't expect them to go anywhere, not because a lack of interest.

Neither Chavez nor Nolasco will bring in any proven prospects, but they could bring in a few unproven ones.

I will gladly take a few C+ or B- prospects for either or both of them.

If none of the prospects pan out, you have lost very little.

However, with Shoe out until 2019, I guess you need to hang on to one of the two...
