Rose Parade is always on the 1st.  If you get there and it's not happening, tell the kids the parade was canceled and take them to the track instead.

Only time I ever went was January 1, 2004, the year The Tower of Terror replica (CA Adventure) was part of the parade.   Had to be an adventure lowering it to get under the 210 overpass near the end of the parade route.

I must have been a good luck charm for USC, as they beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl that day.

Getting up once at 3am to leave Orange to secure a parade spot was enough for me.   Temps were in the high 30s when we arrived.

The 1980 Rose Bowl was the last one I went to..USC-OSU

Marcus Allen and Charles White for SC...White ran for close to 250 yards that day and scored the winning touchdown right below my end zone seat with less than a min to play.

SC won 17-16
