I was hoping this guy would put on a clinic, but sounds like he had a Roger Dorn type day today with two errors.

I'm a big fan of Callaspo and not very high on Jimenez at all, but it's been one game. The guy will get his legs under him and be better than that.

some peeps on here were thinking Jiminez might have an outside shot at breaking camp with the big club...his showing thus far has been pretty lackluster.

One game makes not a player.  Watch him over a full season and he'll impress you.  The kid has the goods to be a major league 3B.

i like the guy, i think hes talented and he will be with the club eventually. i didnt think he had much of a chance to break camp with the club but i was hoping for a great showing this spring. still LOTS of time, I realize that but I think another season at AAA wouldnt hurt, especially because he most likely wouldnt be seeing regular at-bats at the ML level

Honest question, how many games have each of you watched him play? I am guessing most see them while they come through the Cal League. Anyone hear getting to see these guys in the high minors?

Saw him once on Rookie Ball.  Probably a dozen times in A Ball.  20 times in AA.  Another 20-30 times in AAA.  PRobably another dozen the past couple Springs.  I dunno, I'd say I'm about as familiar with him as a player as any fan is.

Jimenez has swagger. I like it. I hope he gets a chance to take the 3B position from Callaspo sometime this year.

That's cool, I don't get out to AA at all and only see them in AAA if I make the drive to Vegas which is rare. Always thought it would be fun to actually watch them at every level. While you can still gauge their improvements with stats I prefer to see them live. Lucho is a perfect example of this, in the Cal League he would put up good numbers but he seemed to lack focus. Has that changed from what you have seen? I find it hard to believe that a player who is not committed at all moments will have a high level of success in the bigs.

I don't think it is a misconception really, at least in his past. 

 

What do you do for work for you to have the time to travel so often to these minor league towns? Dude only has played one season or less at each stop and you have seen him quite a bit. I have trouble attending 75 or so Angels games plus another 10-20 Cal League games and they are right down the freeways from me.
