Shoemaker frustrates me more because we can't get the guy wins.  Trout is the primary reason to still watch the team, so maybe I take him for granted.

That is something I'm looking forward to.  He was a very special pitcher for a number of years, can he regain a lot of that form or not?  Could be quite a story.

I don't think he's gonna do enough in a handful of starts to bring much back. I think he partially signed here because he felt comfortable with the team and the city, and given our rotation injuries and depth, I think it's more likely they try to lock him up via extension maybe even before the season is out. I expect us to sign a SP this offseason, and looking at the options, we're probably best off trying to sign him.

yes. best case scenario is he pitches well enough over the next month and a half to convince some contending team to part with a prospect or two at the deadline for their stretch run. otherwise he's just a (welcome) distraction for Angels fans.

I think that hinges on whether Richards and Heaney are responding to treatment.  If they both require surgery, then I expect the team to try to get him to sign an extension if he performs well.
