Tyler Skaggs (shoulder) will throw five innings in extended spring training on Wednesday.

Skaggs threw three innings in Arizona on Friday, so he's ready to make the next step. Assuming all goes well on Wednesday, he'll start pitching in games with Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels need any pitcher who's available to join the rotation as soon as possible.

Skaggs staying healthy the rest of the year and pitching well would be one of the  best things to happen in 2016.

As long as he doesn't have a fantastic bullpen session we should be okay. Burnett had one of those and we never heard from him again.

Skaggs and Lincecum would give Salt Lake a pretty good 1-2 punch.
