Surprised Gardenhire is unemployed, it must be by choice, seemed capable to me. He does remind me a lot of Scioscia, similar styles/attitudes, I think he'd do well in ATL!

Gonzalez always seemed like an odd fit to me in Atlanta. Clearly he wasn't the main problem, or even a significant part of it. They are taking their lumps because they are playing a lot of kids, much like they did in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I don't know what was going on inside the clubhouse, but ownership apparently saw the need to make a change.

The Twins had a real young team (Hunter, Big Poopy, Guzman, Jones, etc.) when Gardenhire took over for Tom Kelly after the 2000 season.   By his 2nd season, they got to the ALCS.
