Angels have interest in Kyle Lohse.

Recommended Posts

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Angels have interest in Kyle Lohse.

The club watched him throw recently and they have a massive need in their rotation at the moment. Lohse has come back from the dead to be relevant in mixed leagues in the past, so keep an eye on him in deeper leagues.

Cool I remember when he pitched against us in the playoffs back in......2002!

sigh

You mean his one inning of relief in the game 5 blowout?

The losing pitcher of game 5 was Johan Santana. He was a reliever for the Twins in the playoffs even though he lead the starters in ERA in the regular season. He was the John Lackey of 2002 for the Twins except Gardenhire didn't see it. Instead he started Joe Mays in the playoffs that had the highest ERA of his staff at 5.38. Idiot.

We may need both, @Blarg

Yup, and some how Cj and Skaggs get healthy and suddenly we have some of the sp depth back.

you have to figure thought that if the Angels sign one or both they won't be ready for another 3 weeks to a month

I know this is gonna sound silly to some, but our offense is fine and it's gonna keep getting better.  We've had some people struggle and of course we really need some production from Pujols, but Alberts peripherals are actually quite good and the best they've been in 6 years.  Soto, Escobar, Calhoun, and our LF platoon have actually been solid.  (Our production from LF is middle of the pack relative to the rest of the league).  Cron is coming around as well.  2b has been terrible.  SS has been terrible.

Our SP is 28th out of 30 and on the way down unless we make some serious moves.  We could end up with replacement level production which could stand to be one of the worst in the history of baseball.  The worst in franchise history was the 2000 squad with 3.2 WAR.  We currently sit at 0.2 and just lost our best starter.

And the lefty Santana allowed a lefty hitter to complete a historic day for himself, with two strikes on him.

The crazy thing was that the 2000 staff's ERA was as high as 8th, despite being 5.00.

Hitting was king.
