Is hitting .086 with 3 hits in his first 35 at bats. He looks totally lost out there.

 

Maybe the jump to AA was too much too soon for him?

It could just be a cold start? I'm sure the organization is looking at Cowart's approach, mechanics, etc. to determine if it is just a BABIP thing or if something is truly off physically and/or mentally. Besides it is way early in the season!

Cowart was ready for the jump, but like any projectable youngster, there's going to be a period of adjustment.  Most minor leaguers meet this period in AA.  Trout didn't see it till the majors, but he's a special case.  Cowart will be fine.  And in any case, you may notice that Luis Jimenez looks pretty solid out there right now.  I'm confident that he and Callaspo will hold the fort down until Cowart is ready to take over.

I noticed that they moved him to the number 2 spot in the lineup as well.

He's still showing some decent discipline (9 BB's in 60 PA's) and zone recognition at least.  Like others have said I think he'll be fine with some seasoning.

Hit his first home run yesterday, 1-5 so far today combined

Slowly getting better. Looks like it's all mental right now. Looking forward to a strong finish from this month forward.
