Though Mike Trout came up empty last night when his teammates were on base.

I thought Trout had a tendency to swing at pitches that were closer to his head. The pitches being analyzed in those gifs are in the middle of the strike zone.

I thought Trout had a tendency to swing at pitches that were closer to his head. The pitches being analyzed in those gifs are in the middle of the strike zone. 

not totally.  the pitches he had a problem with were ones at the upper part of the strike zone to slightly above.  ones that could have been called strikes.  The ones they are showing are ones that he swung through quite often last year.  

 

personally, I think some of it had to do with his two strike approach.  He's always been vulnerable to fastballs with two strikes.  This year, not as much.  

 

It does seem that he's hitting a few more weak fly balls and pop ups to the right side.  

 

the amazing thing is that he's been terrific and it doesn't even seem that he's hit his stride as of yet.
