One other thing.  What exactly is an American dance?  

 

Because offhand, Folk, Swing, Rock/the Twist era, breakdancing, punk with mosh pits, maybe even tap.  And that's just what I can think of, I'm sure there are plenty more.  And while the punk could get a bit on the liability side.  That's a wide range of a pretty kick ass history of American dance, and I don't see why it would offend.
