And yet, he's only 7 months younger than the reigning AL MVP. I am already so sick of the Bryant hype. It's worse than the Harper hype.

I guess I missed all the Bryant hype. I haven't heard anything about him in at least a couple of weeks.

You probably never heard much about him until two years ago after he really blasted his way through the minors. Last year he played in the minors even though he was more ready to play than Harper was when they called him up.

The Nationals fast tracked Harper and ignored waiting for the right moment to activate his contract for an extended club control. He was the most hyped above average rookie ever and has played less games each season since coming up.

Harper Minors 23 home runs 138 games .300/.397/.521/.917

Bryant Minors 55 homes runs 181 games .321/.364/.679/1.092

Is that true? I thought Harper was called up in late April after killing it in Spring training.

Also comparing a 17/18 year old in the minors to a 21/22 year old isn't exactly fair.

Edit: Harper hit only .276 that spring.

Bryce Harper signed a major league contract when he was drafted.

Also, he had 68 walks and 101 K's as an 18/19 year old from A ball to AAA in 2011 and 2012.

Bryant had 99 walks and 206 K's as a 21/22 year old

Matt Williams is a terrible manager but aside from that he wasn't good in 2014. But his 2013 season was pretty darn good. He put up above a 4 WAR even with limited playing time. Harper also put up a WAR over 4 as a rookie.

I don't think Bryant will put up a 4 WAR this year even with substantially more PAs.

Why? This is a condition that the MLBPA agreed to in the last CBA. To then criticize a club for using it doesn't make sense.

Remember when we were saying Weaver was going to get back at the Angels for "low-balling" him on his $4 mil signing after drafting him...

Oh and how he'd never re-sign or, at the very least, squeeze every last dollar out of the Angels

Oh and how Trout would never sign a deal with the Angels after the Angels only gave him a $20,000 raise in 2nd year...

Time + money = amnesia

Time + money = amnesia

From the tweet that the kid sent after being called up, it seems like all of this has already been forgotten. He was ecstatic about finally getting to live his dream. By the time his contract runs out, all of this will be a non-issue. If he doesn't already, he will come to understand the business side of baseball.

Bryant is another Las Vegas product, playing at Bonanza High School. From all accounts he didn't attend the Bryce Harper Memorial School of Douchiness. Harper went to Las Vegas High, for those keeping score.
