Well that's not how I wanted the Angels to kick off the 2014 season

Be that as it may, they won the first game of the season last year and went into the shitter thereafter. There's still 161 games to go!

It was going to be tough to beat Felix with the kind of stuff he had tonight. But we had our chances and failed, as did the bullpen. Fargin Jepsen!

I had a terrible feeling about tonight after Baylor's injury, then I thought Trout's 2-run bomb and the 3-1 lead erased those fears.

Then I remembered we were on ESPN. We just suck on ESPN for whatever reason.

We'll get em tomorrow night.

Some thoughts....

MIKE TROUT!

Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols at least started off well.

Weaver was good through 6, but gassed after that. Maybe we could have brought in Shoemaker for a couple innings, or Kohn in the 7th? Whatever.

WTF was Freese doing on that tag? Terrible.

Ibanez and Iannetta looked like poop. But it's one game.

I've turned the page. Let's win tomorrow and take the series on Wednesday!

First game doesn't mean anything. They played a great game until they end when they shat the bed. It was a lot closer than the final score.

Yep.

I'd have a short leash on Jepsen. I really liked what I saw from Lyon and Berg and I hope they're on the Angels speedial early on.

The bullpen comes in and gives up six runs with two outs. The offense falls asleep after the fourth inning. Scioscia mismanaged the pen. Terry Smith said we need to turn the page.

Is it still 2013?

More silver linings.

The A's and Rangers lost. The World Champion Red Sox lost on opening day. The Dodgers lost to the Padres on national tv last night.

I'm still feeling really good about our lineup despite Freese/Ibanez/Howie/Iannetta not doing shit tonight.

Oh and we probably will not see Jepsen tomorrow night.

Jepsen is a rare right handed specialist. If they just used him vs righties, he could be somewhat effective. Dude is BP vs lefties and should never face them. I expect every lefty to hit a HR off that fastball of his.

Jepsen and Ibanez should probably both be off the roster by the end of the month. They won't, but they should.

yeah i have real concerns about Ibanez.  He's 40 and hasn't looked decent since the first half of last season. Hope Scioscia doesn't stick with him until July.

Like I said going into the year, I had major concerns about the bullpen.  Had a fun time at the game and will follow my Halos til the end, but my expectations were and are reserved heading into this year after 4 years of nothing.  Hope some young guys pan out and they can win, but I've learned from 2012 and 2013 to just watch and not expect anything.
