stuck here and think this has happened before with this same DVD.

watching season 1 of entourage and while everything is going fine, it switches to letterbox in the middle of an episode and becomes stuck in that format both with the show and DVD menu.

there is no DVD setting to change, no ps3 setting I can find, and the TV is still set to 16:9 with the 4:3 option.

doesn't make sense. I think this has happened before and had to reset the ps3, I don't remember and am going look up now. figures someone here might no a remedy and/or a cause.

You never had these issues with Beta Max.

Have you tried taking the Dvd out, look for scratches, and putting it back in hoping the issue would resolve itself?

Then again, sometimes odd things happen with DVDs for reasons no one can explain. I bought a copy of Roots. One of the volumes would finish a chapter and then start again at the beginning of the same chapter. If I manually advanced it to the next one it would play fine until it reached the end of that chapter, then the same thing again. It would never advance on its own. Never figured that one out. Brand new disk, no smudges or scratches on it.
