An oral history of the 1989 World Series

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure if this belonged in the main forum so I just put it here.

It's an oral account of the 1989 earthquake from players, fans, and basically everyone involved with the broadcast of the World Series.  Some very interesting perspectives from those that were there.  The account begins 3 hours before the quake hit.  It's 3 pages with a few videos and links to some photos, so you may want to read it from home.

Eck cracks me up.

Eckersley: You're in the clubhouse. You're underneath all that. It's like iron screeching. Like there's a train coming through the door. You knew. The auxiliary lights hadn't even come on yet and I was yelling, "Earthquake!" Dave Parker shit his pants, man.
