It's an "in" thing to do.  Scioscia's decisions and statements are the most public of all decisions.  If we knew exactly what Dipoto said and did all day it would open up a whole new avenue of criticism.  Same for Arte.  At this point their mouths are shut, and their decisions are not public.  Every once in a while a coach says something public, like from Butcher.  Then hunting season is on for that.

 

I would guess that it's about the worst aspect for any manager.  Everything they say and do is second guessed and dissed, especially if your team isn't winning.  Then you have the mob mentality, once it starts everyone want  a piece.

 

The next manager will be a darling, until they start losing, then the whole cycle will start over again.
