For Vargas? I hope so, but I doubt it. 

 

Aybar won't be traded, but Kendrick will probably be traded in the offseason.

If Aybar gets moved it will be to one of these teams, in order of waiver priority:

 

Red Sox, Pirates, Cardinals. He'll be claimed, I just don't think anybody will offer enough for him.

 

As far as Vargas, I can see quite a few teams who would want to add him. He might be easier to move as it won't take a whole lot but a low-level prospect.

I could see a contending team with pitching needs claim Vargas, though I'm not expecting a deal to get done or that they'll get anything significant for him.

Although they would forfeit their ability to obtain a pick for a qualifying offer so it would have to be worth their while and other teams will know this. 

 

They'll both get claimed though.

I'd like to see the Royals snatch Vargas up. They have several pitching prospects who I wouldn't mind having. Obviously they wouldn't part with Zimmer, Ventura, but I'd take Miguel Almonte and Christian Colon.

I doubt anyone will be moved unless a contender suffers a serious surprise injury to a pitcher or an impending FA.

If you need a starting pitching upgrade, those 6 starts, with a quality veteran like Vargas (assuming he's healthy), might be the difference in getting you into the playoffs...But if you can't get anything much in return, hold on to him and make him a qualifying offer in the offseason...

Yep.  Think about it from the flipside: if the Angels were in a playoff run and trying to trade for Vargas how much would you expect them to give up?  I'm thinking a solid AA prospect or two.

A .710 OPS at AAA for a 24 year-old drafted 4th overall three years ago out of CS Fullerton is a HUGE disapointment.
