...to the #4 spot in the rotation next year. Maybe he could be part of a group that moves through the #5 spot, but this looks like the same pitcher we've seen all year except for that one single start back from the DL. What was that about, anyways?

So next year you pencil in Weaver and Wilson, and given Garret Richards a shot in the #4-5 spot. If Vargas isn't trade for a higher-risk/reward pitching prospect when he gets back from the DL, then he could be re-upped and penciled in as well. Then you go for a #3 type - someone better than Vargas and Richards and close to Wilson.

Weaver - Wilson - Vargas - Richards for the first 4 spots

Then trade Bourjos/Kendrick/Trumbo for another good starter. That rotation would be a huge upgrade over this year and not too much money would have to be spent

Does anyone here actually believe Walden would have delivered these numbers w/ Butcher as pitching coach?

Nope...but that's a separate issue. Poor coaching just compounds things for this team.

We knew he wasn't the answer before the trade even happened. Dipoto is a hack.

Offer Vargas comp.  Don't resign him to a 60M+ contract.

Deal Bourjos/Trumbo/Kendrick for 2 capable young starters.

Then it's either Weaver, Wilson, Vargas, SP #1, SP #2

OR

Weaver, Wilson, SP #1, SP #1, Richards.

Josh Johnson, Colby Rasmus, Perez  for Mark Trumbo,  Cowart, Kendrick and Hanson. Good Value?

That is an awful trade for the Angels.  We've already been hosed by the Blue Jays once.  Not happening again.

Johnson might not even be a major league starter anymore.  No thank you.

Revised Offer:

R.A Dickey, Rasmus, Delabar (2013 All Star Reliever) for Trumbo, Cowart, Kendrick and Hanson. Is that better value?

This makes even less sense.

The Angels aren't going to trade for anymore overpriced, over the hill players.

At least I hope not.
