Washington's lineup cards are a head scratcher sometimes. Yesterday he put cold as ice Adrianza in the 2 spot, today Moniak. Meanwhile Tucker is hitting 8th. This is neither a talent or current hot streak lineup card. It's just names out of a hat, again.

Yep. Again, I'm completely off of the "Washington is great!" bandwagon. At this point, he's just a kooky old dude.

Canning needs to step up today. Glad that O'Hoppe's injury is not serious. This patchwork roster cannot afford any more of this.

This season has drifted into irrelevance really quickly. The peak of optimism was just after the Marlin series. Since then, not a series won. And a  continuing recognition that even .500 will be difficult to achieve. Not a full out rebuild, too many key injuries. And a roster full of journeymen and under achievers. 

Even Adell is now cooling off. And Detmers hasn't taken the next step yet.   Soriano is about the most intriguing player to watch and his sample size needs to get much larger. 

Washington was dealt a bad hand with key injuries and a weak roster but he hasn't moved the needle one iota. 

But as underdogs in probably 90% of their games going forward, each win will feel more meaningful than if it was expected.

I like being aggressive on the bases, but I think the Angels have been taking it to an extreme this year in terms of sending runners AND on stolen base attempts.
