No idea what's up, but the obstacle MLB has to overcome and the likely reason why the 180 turn from Ohtani's camp is this....  MLB's CBA prohibits players from making bets or using illegal bookies.

Ohtani will end up getting suspended for 30 games.

One thing is for certain, MLB is not going to let it's golden boy nor it's favorite franchise go up in flames without a serious fight.

Ohtani is lucky he isn't on the Angels.  He'd have been Bauered by now.

If Shohei thought the media was relentless before this, he’s going to get a major dose of unrelenting media attention when he gets home from South Korea.

It’s also worth noting that using a wire “which entitles the recipient to receive money or credit as a result of bets or wagers” is explicitly listed in the U.S. criminal code as a violation that can result in a fine or imprisonment for up to two years, which might explain the about-face after Mizuhara said Ohtani himself sent the wire transfer.

Just saw an image of Ippei coming back to Los Angeles.

Didn’t Bauer get Bauered while on the Dodgers?

The FBI and IRS will have a say in this. Believing Ippei acted independently is as dumb as believing an extorshonist's story of domestic abuse.

His Bauering did nothing but help the Dodgers.  Bauering goes both ways.  Like a certain poster here.
