So again, I haven't followed much the past few weeks (been too busy). But did he go out in the SD series too? I thought it was this past weekend?

He last played on the 4th of July against the Padres.  For reasons that aren't entirely clear, they chose to ride it out and not just put him on the IL immediately.  They didn't officially IL him until the day the AS break ended.  They made it retroactive to three days before that (the maximum you're allowed to back-date IL visits now).
