Didn't run for Ward in scoring position in the ninth, yet put Velasquez in for Escobar afterwards so he would be due to bat 3rd in the 10th...Thaiss makes the final out in the 9th, but he replaces him with Wallach knowing he'll be the ghost runner...

Batting Rengifo as a pinch hitter in the 10th...

Stefanic saved his ass.

Thaiss got thrown out of the game.  He had no choice.

Was it not possible to put in Rengifo for Thaiss and Wallach for another infielder to get the faster ghost runner? Seems like the type of move Scioscia made all the time. The term escaped me before but its called a double switch.

Sure they could have done that and had Wallach hit. He’s in an 0 for 30 though.

Well, they could have easily put Wallach in Moustakas' spot in the lineup, and whichever new infielder could have played 3rd in Moustakas' place.  Then Wallach wouldn't have been due up for another 8 batters.

So you’d lose Moustakas and have one less pinch hitter (with Cabbage and Velazquez due against a lefty) just so you could have a faster runner and have Wallach bat 8 spots away instead of 9 spots away.

Watched it in a bar with the sound off.

Thanks for the info, badass keyboard warrior.

Maybe you shouldnt be willing jump call a managerial move stupid.  They have information that we don't.

An example, is bullpen management.   We don't know who the front office say are avaolable to pitch.

Well then we can never criticize any player or coach ever because they have information we don't.

Not really.  We eventually get infornation and some decisions are pretty clear.

For example,  taking Estevez out last Sunday.  Once front office says you can use him, then use him.

Maddon walking a runner in with bases loaded.

The dumbass third nase coach keeping running Angels into outs.

Criticizing coaches is every fans prerogative.    An appreciative fan of a team will also compliment coach moves that work out well.  Sorely lacking on this board unfortunately.   Maybe you can be a leader in this regard.

An appreciative fan of the team? What kind of pledge of allegiance bullshit is that?

With what pitching they had left, guessing the game would have been done, one way or another, in the next inning anyway. Having Rengifo on second instead of Wallach, and letting Cabbage or Velazquez bat instead of Rengifo, seems like a net positive to me. But glad it worked out regardless.
