I'm hoping Sandoval can regroup enough to finish 5 innings. His pitch count is pretty high right now -- 55 in 2 innings..

Just tuning in to see Sandoval gave up 3 runs in the 1st. What's wrong with the rotation? Ohtani has been sucking, Sandoval's ERA has trended up, Anderson got a bit better but has been below average, Detmers hasn't developed, Canning has been poor, and Suarez of course. It is across the board: no starter is getting better and/or being consistently good.

Just a heads up but they banned the shift and they aren’t really allowed to control the running game anymore.

I understand that runs are up this year, but that doesn't explain everything, and plenty of pitchers are doing just fine. Are you saying that every Angels start is particularly vulnerable to shift and running game?

Who can say as to why, but given the significant changes to the rules it’s likely that those changes are driving the big reduction in performance.
