We all know that Philips is not the 4th OF. He is a PR and DR. Walsh or Rengifo are the extra OF.

Phillips will likely start a small share of games and be a late inning defensive replacement more often.  Walsh may be out there against RHPs occasionally.  I infer that some of the off-season acquisitions were so that they don't have to run Rengifo out there any longer.

If 0ne of regular Of goes on IR will Phillips play those games? No they will call up their 4th OF Moniak.

agreed. definitely wouldn't want the one true thing he's actually elite at to be utilized at all.

Yeah… Nevin is out of his depth (IMHO)…

i disagree. i think he's going to show himself quite well. he'll benefit from having a better roster than his predecessors, but he handled the bullpen well in his first opportunity and he seems to have the clubhouse in a tangible way. i think nevin seems to be better than expected.

We’ll find out how well he does with this bullpen group.  If the bullpen is average or better this will be a very good team.

Bullpen is the key I wonder who will open season as closer. Herget finished last year as closer, and I hope he gets a shot.
