I'm no expert but seems like they are lacking in the "rank" column. Either their SCOUT did some serious homework or they are just pulling names out of a hat.

Yeah, they typically don't rank college seniors or guys who will be 25 when they play their first year of full season ball.

Day three remains but, Day 2 was pretty uninspiring for me.

I do like the round 3 and 4 pick (even though i have no idea who they are)...but it just seems like the picks are all over the place. Perhaps these HS preps that are falling are just unsignable at this point and theres no point in wasting a 5-10th pick?

It happens every year.  It's a way to create some space for those one or two guys that dropped due to signability issues.   It's how we got silseth and Albright last year.

From what I can guess so far, I don't see one guy that will go over slot except maybe Madden.  I think they're gonna have a ton of room on Day 3 actually.  Comb the list on mlb of guys in their 130-200 range.  You're likely to see a couple of names pop up on the Angels boards in the 11th-15th rounds.  You might also see a couple after that but those guys aren't likely to sign unless something weird happens.

They frankly did a rather brilliant job of this last year.  They might even go really big on one of them in an effort to make up for their lost 2nd rounder.

Couple of decently rated catchers there. If i'm the angels thats where i'm looking first.

oh and there's still gonna be a strong group of UDFA's out there.  Strong meaning the normal amount of guys that make it from rounds 20-40 in previous years, but that extra year of eligibility fattened that up a bit once again.  For the halos it'll likely be guys with big exit velo's, catchers that are defensive minded and pitchers with big spin rates.

Maybe.   Minasian seems to think he's got some 'Im smarter than you' at that spot.  Yet to be determined, but of late it seems he's loading up on guys who handle pitchers well with the hope that a bat develops in there somewhere.

Anyone surprised to see two 1B drafted today?

Granted the one (DiChiara) is likely a DH long term?

The Joyce, Madden, and Mederos picks could turn out pretty fine.

betting it's bat to ball combined with exit velo.  The second guy seems like org filler where he'll light it up until he gets to AA
