They tanked. 

Just like the Cubs and Astros, Oakland was fine finishing in last place multiple seasons in a row ('15-'17) to build for the future. 

The Angels have made it clear they won't do that.

If the Angels would build the farm, instead of having a system that is always below average, then trading young players would be more acceptable.

If the Angels had the Dodgers farm system,  I wouldn't mind couple of good young players being sacrificed.

Why do the Dodgers, Yankees, and Red Sox never need to rebuild and lose for a few consecutive years?

So far so good with not trading away the best prospects recently.
