I don't think I was saying you disrespected those who served.  I do think when you excuse a draft dodger you are saying that the person who had to take their spot is less valuable.

Blaming the citizen for declining the government coercion to go and kill on foreign soil seems a bit backwards to me. It isn't the citizen's fault they'll simply choose another in their place. The proper target to blame seems pretty clear.

is there any way to quantify how much the country has to pay to support 1st generation immigrants ? How does this impact students who want to come here to stay ? 

im not saying a more merit based system is wrong, I just wonder what need this change actually addresses ? Do we really have that many American jobs being taken by immigrants ? Sorry, the ones in the field don't count.  Americans won't work those jobs.

Trump doesn't care about immigration. He's doing this to appeal to the fears of his base that foreigners are dangerous.
