Joe Maddon -- Must See PTI Interview 02/21

Hi Guys,

I follow the board daily...don't post much but been around since the old ESPN board.  Didn't see that anybody had posted this but its an awesome watch.  Maddon had Kornheiser and Wilbon gushing at the end.  They asked him whether the Angels would retaliate during the opening series vs the Astros and had some interesting things to say about analytics vs the human element of baseball. 

 

Maddon's interview is between 7:30 -- 17:30

Outstanding.

The more I hear him talk, the more I like him. I was slightly skeptical when the Angels made the hire for a variety of reasons, but with each day, he has grown on me.  I feel like he's sort of reinventing himself and I like that.  On top of everything else - what he has to say about analytics and how it should be properly used resonated with me completely.

Maddon is such a great speaker.  I hope he can manage the Angels as well as he speaks.

More than that - he's a great communicator and that will serve him well.

He was basically an eloquent Mike Scioscia just now.   

If that had been Mike Scioscia making those comments about analytics everyone would be talking about how he refuses to grow and is mired in the dark ages.
