I'm not certain neither of those three would be better options.  Ward is .172 .236 .560 OPS 53 OPS+ with 9 BB and 52 K...that's Cowart-esque.  

Walsh is too new to rate...

Thaiss has only recently caught fire in AAA and has no MLB experience.

It's nice to speculate but Bour, Ward, Walsh and Thaiss have really done nothing to push Pujols to the bench.
