2020 strategy--what to do?

Agreed. And a major difference in that strategy I suppose would also be that while it's the same actions as Dipoto, his draft strategy and lack of presence internationally made it so that he couldn't rebuild the farm even if he wanted to.  Now If Eppler traded such a collection of prospects away, I have greater confidence that he could replenish that deficit.

Just the way things have gone, but in the future, the Angels will only have room for 2-3 of Adell, Marsh, Adams, Knowles, Deveaux and Alex Ramirez.  Meaning that even if guys like Deveaux and Ramirez flamed out, they'd still need to trade one of Knowles, Adams or Marsh.

He could replenish what he gave up for the most part by trading our guys like Kole, La Stella, Lucroy and Robles at the deadline.  Like I said in another thread, the only difference is we know the names of the guys we would be trading away for a Stroman where we might not know the names of the guys we get for our major league trade candidates.  Also, if we could get a really good package for Buttrey, I would consider it.  The only reason I say this is I trust Eppler to find us another bullpen arm.

As far as relievers go, you trade guys that provide seeds of doubt as to whether the performance is able to be replicated.  The Angels sold high on Trevor Gott because his lack of K's and higher BB/9 suggested regression was coming.  So far, everything about Buttrey suggests this is legit.  So I wouldn't trade him.  Cam Bedrosian for sure.  Cody Allen definitely.  Noe if anyone would take him.  Robles in the right deal.  Luis Garcia, yes.

I guess I'm saying the only ones I wouldn't trade at this point are probably Buttrey, Anderson and Middleton.
