THE GAME: With only three of their projected starters in the lineup, the Angels lost 6-2 to the San Diego Padres on Sunday at the Peoria Sports Complex.

PITCHING REPORT: RHP Matt Harvey threw 4-1/3 innings on 66 pitches. He left the game without a run scoring, but two runners that he left on base came around to score after he was done. Harvey’s fastball was up to 95 mph during the outing. “It wasn’t that much of a challenge to get to that (velocity) number,” Harvey said. “It has been earlier in spring, effort wise. The ball was coming out good, coming out easy, nice and clean. I’m happy to see some of those numbers.”

Harvey struck out four and did not walk a batter. He hit one. “I thought that was the best outing of the spring,” Manager Brad Ausmus said. “He threw all four of his pitches. All four were effective.” Ausmus said the plan was for Harvey to get through four innings, but he was efficient enough that he started the fifth. … RHP Cam Bedrosian worked a scoreless inning. He has allowed seven runs, five earned, in 5-1/3 innings this spring. Bedrosian is out of options, so still likely to be in the opening day bullpen. … RHP Justin Anderson entered with two outs and two on and he issued a walk and gave up a three-run double.

HITTING REPORT: David Fletcher led off the game with a rocket off the glove of 3B Manny Machado for a single. Fletcher also doubled. He is 9 for 18 in his last five games. … Justin Bour doubled and walked in four trips to the plate. … Jonathan Lucroy had a single in four at-bats, a day after he had four hits in eight at-bats in minor league camp.

DEFENSE REPORT: LF Brennan Lund chased down a base hit in the corner and made a strong throw to second to nail Wil Myers trying to stretch for a double.

UP NEXT: The Angels are off on Monday. They return to action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the Colorado Rockies at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
