Batting average is second to OBP at leadoff...    Revere is hitting 20 points higher than Maybin while putting up an OBP 40 points lower...   Not making outs is the name of the game at leadoff.

All true....neither is exactly the second coming of Rickey Henderson, except they both can run a little...

Wouldn't surprise me....particularly if we spend a lot of money on Moose....

That feels like the likeliest scenario to me. I can't see them shelling out big bucks on more than one player, which I think is a fine strategy as it keeps payroll flexible, and Moose really is the only high-dollar player that fits the most needs.

I'm willing to bet Darvish resigns with the Dodgers. They have the money, they still have an awful need for rotation help/stability, and they've mentioned before that if they deal prospects (such as Calhoun) for rentals they do so with an intent to keep that rental long-term. I've read Darvish has some affinity for the LA area too.

How much is Shoe going to get in arb for next season?    Could he make the move to late innings specialist in the pen, with that nasty splitter?

Bedrosian, Shoe, Petit, and Parker could be a nice quartet in the backend of the pen.

That hadn't ever really occurred to me. He would make one hell of a long relief type pitcher. I have trouble seeing MS go for it, though.

I originally had him pegged for about $5.75M in arbitration for the 2018 season but that may lower a bit now that he is out. He made $3.325M this season and if he had pitched a full season he would have hit $5.75 or so, I think. Now it is probably in the $4.7M-5M range because he only pitched about half a season's worth of starts.

EDIT: Although taking a good starter like Shoe and moving him to the pen would make him a good reliever, I believe that is a complete waste of his ability. There have been long stretches where he has shown a good #2 starter ability so you just have to hope he gets healthy and throws that filthy split-fingered fastball well.

IDK man, its been three long years since he has been a good starter, and most of that time he didn't really have injury problems. I guess his '16 numbers would make him a fine back of the rotation guy, but...I don't really see it anymore.

2014 and 2016 were good years overall for him. Solid peripherals. His velocity has, in fact, increased about 1/2 a tick over the last two seasons. I really just think injuries have derailed him. Having forearm irritation, then brain surgery, then forearm strain surgery would derail most pitchers. I'd consider giving him a chance to get healthy and prove himself again. I don't think we've seen the best of Shoe yet (and we might never see that but I think he has the potential).

Id go with moustakas. Ive read people on here say his splits suck, so that worries me. But we need to fix 3rd, and im not suree valbuena can be counted on. Keep cowart at 2cd. Some have suggested trading for walker. Not against it, but id rsther keep prospect currency.

LF is tough. Stanton would be ideal, but its not going to happen. Upton would be nice, but not sure how realistic if we signed moustskas as well, and again, prospect currency. Bruce is interesting. He may be shorter years which is good for down the road guys in the system.

Its already been mentioned, and i agree, revere/maybin are kind of our only speed.

Either way, at minimum one MOTO bat has to be aquired this offseason.
