But yes, those should be the thirteen - barring any upgrades, but that seems unlikely. The only possible upgrade that stands out is Pennington, but I think Sherman Johnson will replace him at some point in 2017.

Fully agree with this one. It could technically also be Cowart or Nolan but I agree AJ that Johnson would be the best to take over the backup role.

Our primary MIF options are Simmons, Espinosa, Pennington this year, with Johnson in AAA and Fletcher in AA.

Come 2018 however, I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson and Fletcher entered Spring Training competing for the starting 2B spot. Whoever doesn't win takes over UT. I figure they both play good enough defense and do just enough offensively not to hurt us.

I think Cowart still serves as organizational depth, but I think we're reaching the point where Cowart won't progress too much further as a position player. The bat is better than it was, but I just don't know if it will ever be good enough to start in the pro's.
