Jackson Zarubin Signs Free Agent Contract With Angels

Zarubin was a regular out of the bullpen for the Seawolves in 2016, ranking second on the team with 15 appearances.  He went 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA and four saves in 21.2 innings of work, striking out 19 and walking just five.

I agree it's interesting.  I am assuming this will happen as the halos have already said they would be ok with him finishing his football career at ND.

As an aside, doesn't it seem like Torii Sr. is more engaged with his legacy as a halo vs. that of his Twins tenure?

Hunter is an athlete.  I mean at the very least, he has upside, right?  He hasn't done much of anything at Notre Dame, but he also never focused on baseball at all.  This kid was all football.

Does he have any potential to play in the NFL?  

Would be great to get his undivided attention going forward.  He's only had 12 at bats for ND.  I am sure he will forego his eligibility for baseball and it would be great to see him get started in Arizona.

He can sign until the deadline. I think that's sometime in early August. It's never over until that day passes.

Forty-five days after being drafted, iirc, is the deadline.
