Daniel Robertson

Is there any room on our forty man roster for Daniel?  He was steady when he was with the Angels.  Certainly a good depth move if we have the space.  He was cut from the Mariner's roster to make room for Iwakuma.

Sad how Robertson is better than what the Angels actually have .

Robertson was likable, but I think in our current state he'd be redundant. Right now, competing for LF we have Daniel Nava, Craig Gentry, Ji-man Choi, Rafael Ortega, and as a dark horse, Chad Hinshaw.

Personally, I'd have Choi at the forefront because I think he's the only one currently ready that might grow into anything better than replacement level. But knowing the Angels, you have to figure they're going to give it to Nava with Gentry as the 4th OF, while slotting Ortega in AAA and Hinshaw in AA, even though he already conquered that level.

OBP .299, SLG% .307, OPS .605, OPS+ 72. Robertson's chance was fairly given.

 

Good guy. Solid fielder at all three OF positions. He is, however, completely redundant behind Nava and Gentry.

He had 75 at-bats with the Angels. That's kind of a small sample size.

His entire MLB career is a small sample size. He's just completed his age 29 season with 277 plate appearances. Epitome of AAAA player.

 

He hits for absolutely no power, and he doesn't take walks. The Angels already have slap hitters with below average on base skills. He is still redundant behind Nava and Gentry.

Gentry and Nava are both 32 years old. Neither have a BA higher than Robertson. My point is that Robertson has seen limited playing time in the big league. He hasn't been given a enough of a chance. He's only 5'8" tall. That's probably why.
