Street is an extreme flyball pitcher. Wilson and Heaney also give up more flyballs than grounders. You left out Santiago and weaver, also extreme flyball pitchers. Salad, flyball pitcher.

Just sign Heyward and a solid fielding 2B, and let Cowart take 3B.   Then you have airtight defense all around, except for when Cron starts at 1B.

You are right about Street. I thought he was a GB pitcher. You can replace him with Gott, however.

 

Wilson and Heaney are GB pitchers though. Not sure where you are getting that they give up more flyballs than grounders.

.265 team average would have been 5-6th in the majors last season. And Trout, Pujols and Calhoun will probably hit 100 homeruns together.

I think people are going to learn to love Simmons very quickly. Another benefit, which I alluded to before, is that he makes the team more fun to watch. So from a purely entertainment perspective, this is a plus.

Like it. Simmons is a proven, defensive wizard whose signed to a very friendly deal. We pretty much know what we'll get from him and any improvement with the bat turns Simmons into a 4 WAR player. While losing Newcomb and Ellis isn't ideal, they're pitching prospects and we know how volatile those can be. This isn't your typical Angels move where they acquire an aging, overrated player. They acquired a player smack in the middle of his prime. 

 

Another note: You have to give up to receive in this league. Simmons was definitely worth a top 25 prospect and more.

Improvement is improvement, regardless of what area it comes in. If we go from a top 10 defense to a top 3 defense, that's huge.
