Got released by the Rockies.  Wonder if Dipoto will give him a look considering his rockies connections.  I am always interested to see what certain guys can do once they get out of the high altitude.  He just turned 27 and a team can never have enough pitching.

Agreed.  Chacin's curve always seemed a bad match with the thin air.  Lifetime road ERA of 3.24 - a full run lower than his home ERA.  And the best part is, given his release, the acquiring team only has to pay major league minimum - the Rockies are on the hook for the rest.  Get 'er done, Jerry.

As long as he's slotted for AAA. He's a wreck right now. If they sign him he'll still sit behind Tropeano, Rucinski and Alvarez on the depth chart, so he'd need to figure everything out in a hurry, otherwise he may be buried permanently.

You have to wonder what actually prompted the Rockies to release him even though they are on the line for the remainder of his contract. You would think that the Rockies would try to hang on to any pitcher that 1) they drafted, 2) owe money to, and 3) has a warm body.

 

When I heard on the local (Denver) news that they had given Chacin his unconditional release, I kept waiting to hear if there was a particular reason, and none was forthcoming. It makes me wonder.
