I don't care, if the A's lose this game the division is over. We could go 9-11 from here on out and the A's still wouldn't catch us. They'd have to go 16-4 from here on out with us going 9-11 just to TIE.

The A's have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way. It wouldn't be surprising to see them go on a tear.

But odds are they will still have to face a Felix or Iwakuma or Scherzer or Price in a one-game playoff just to make it to the actual postseason. Which is probably not what Beane and the A's had envisioned a month ago.

 

That cupcake schedule is almost the same as the Angels.

Did you do the math on that? Including our last series with them?

 

I didn't include them winning the tiebreaker with us, but what other math should I have done? If the A's lose today we go up 7 games, buddy. There's 20 games left for both teams after today.

If they win 2 of 3 from the Angels a tie would net them the division.

We won't go 9-11 from here on out though, and they won't touch anything close to 16-4 lmao.

 

7 games up with 20 games left, I'd bet my house on us winning the division with that lead (taking into consideration how we've played recently vs how they've played as well).
