That would be a solid move. Assuming he's used as depth, I would like it. 

 

Career ERA- of 102 and FIP- of 99. Basically a league average guy, which wouldn't be bad at all if he was the 6th/7th guy.

Well, if guys like RIcky Nolasco is going for whatever he signed for -- $49 million? -- Gavin Floyd could cost $30 million or so.......

 

geez........can't believe what some of these guys are getting.

 

they're getting more from one contract than a guy like Bob Gibson, arguably one of the best pitchers the game has ever seen (as least his 1968 season), got his entire career.......

 

amazing.......and the guys getting the big money are not the aces......they're the 4th and 5th rotation guys.......unbelievable.

Assume he's got a 'rehab' short term contract to show he's still able to pitch a full season.

 

Atlanta is a good place for him to post some decent numbers and get to another big pay day..........

Braves Close To Deal With Gavin Floyd

The Braves are close to a deal with free agent Gavin Floyd, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via Twitter). While the two sides are nearing agreement, nothing has been finalized yet.

Yesterday, it was reported that Floyd was close to inking a deal with an unknown club. Floyd missed most of the 2013 season after having Tommy John surgery in May. In 168 innings with the White Sox in 2012, he posted a 4.29 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9.

The Orioles were among the clubs with interest in the right-hander, but they were ruled out yesterday. The Twins also had interest back in November.

Floyd is represented by Moye Sports Associates, according to the MLBTR Agency Database.
