That post looked like it was your opinion and you were using "most people" as an attempt to gain credibility for that argument. It's very common: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum Thanks for clarifying.

That was not argumentum ad populum. I didn't say that it's "correct" for people to worry about food more then guns just because most do. I don't believe there is such a thing as "correct" here. If some people are more concerned about their diet than gun rights I don't see how they could be considered wrong. It's an opinion.

Now if the argument is that my use of "most" was incorrect or unverifiable then you may have a point. But that's not argumentum ad populum. There were no logic fallacies in my post at all.

Jesus H . I know that. I thought that you were using "argumentum ad populum" to support your argument that "the right to bear arms is an archaic fossil from yesteryear". You clarified that you were just giving your estimation of the opinion of "most people" and that that wasn't your argument at all. My mistake. Happy? 

 

Anyone that would cede their rights to self and property protection or to making their own diet choices to a lower power like government is incorrect in my opinion. We are humans, not farm animals.
