I don't think I'm in a bad position right now. I currently have my military experience(veterans preference) and a federal job, which will help towards finding a better federal position.

 

I don't necessarily need the degree, just don't want to waste a free education that many people would kill for.

 

I guess that's one way to describe ones time in the military.

It isn't worth a damn in preparing you for a job, though. I have a BA in psychology that landed me a low paying dead end desk job with a state agency in Oklahoma. In my late 30s I went back to school and earned a nursing degree. Being an RN pays a hell of a lot better than my dime-a-dozen social science degree ever did.

Yup. BA in Psych and a minor in Criminal Justice.  Wanted to do Psych with the FBI.  Then some blowhard said I had to be a lawyer.  I said **** That!  Had a two year old already and needed something quickly and I didn't want to go back to school for ANY other degrees.  Started teaching and have the MS in Ed. Admin., but I'm thinking I'll stay in teaching.  Admin skus.
