They are still 4 games in front of the Suns with 7 games to play.

 

Randle is now being called a cross between Zach Randolph and Lamar Odom (in his prime, of course).

Guess we just wait now, and see if the #2 worst record parlays into a top 3 draft pick.

That Minnesota team is really fun to watch. I think they can be really good in like 2-3 years. I think one thing they are missing is a PG who is a scoring threat. Opposing teams just sag off Rubio and it ruins their spacing. 

 

If the Lakers end up with a top 3 pick would you trade Russell to Minnesota for a package centering around their first round pick? They are currently in position for the 5th pick (in a weak draft). It lets the Lakers move on from Russell and it would give the Lakers 2 of the top 5 picks in the draft.

They could sign or trade for one. Rondo is a FA for example. Or maybe they can get Minn to dump Rubio's salary as part of the trade.

No way the Lakers move on from Russell.  The kid made a mistake but he will rebound from it.  The Lakers only move him if it propels the team forward more quickly.  Of course that is only my opinion.

No to Phil.  Mitch can handle the heavy lifting if the Buss kids stay out of the way.  In regards to the draft, I would be happy with anyone worthy selected in the top-3 as it would mean we kept the pick.  Ingram probably fits the biggest hole we have currently, but who knows how that will look after free agency.

Phil is a natural match, with Jeannie still a part of the org.   Jimmy Bob needs to stay out of ALL personnel matters!

It's not like Phil thrived in NY making personnel decisions. He might be worse than Jim Buss.

Admittedly, he was given a good franchise in both Chicago and L.A. and thrived, while it's been a struggle in N.Y. although they did improve over a year ago albeit with a terrible 2nd half of this season.
