Aside from mislocating the one pitch in the 8th, Strickland did a solid enough job.

I agree, but players that slide feet 1st usually bend 1 leg for a pop-up slide, so if it is an errant throw, they get up quick to take an extra base. Most players slide head 1st, so you can maneuver your hand to avoid a tag.

Ice water in those veins. He wasn't rattled on iota. He just did what needed to be done, and he did it well. A few more outings like this one where he squelches a fire and Estevez can start looking over his shoulder.
