Personally I think it's a huge mistake to let him go, and we're going to regret it for years.

That said, other teams have lost marquee guys and been fine. The Cards lost Pujols to us. Still made it to October. The Mariners lost Jr and ARod, went on to set the AL record. Nags with Harper, etc etc

The problem here is this org couldn't field winners when we actually acquired marquee guys. I can't see us improving because of this.

Moreno has put us in a position where we will have to massively pay to compete, because we have no farm (though we do have a young, interesting core). 

That's not a good way to do things but it can work. The problem is Arte has shown for a decade he's not willing to do what needs to be done, financially. 

Sure, he's spent a ton. He just always, somehow, spends on the wrong guys. Yes we need pitching. And it's always expensive. And maybe we spend like crazy on pitching.

But we need offense, too.
