Anyway, Kirby probably shouldn’t have said that to the media.  But he’s probably not wrong that he should been pulled and also, the reality of pitchers not going deep into games or not doing well with pitch counts 80+ is more than anything the consequence of contemporary pitching philosophies. Definitely more so than the “typical” failings of a generational cohort.

He made some half-assed apology to reporters before the game in Tampa Bay today, typical "that's not who I am even though I said it" kinda vibe.

Although he *is* just 22, so I give him a bit of a break, not unheard of for shit like this to slip from time to time. But saying "I was at 90 pitches so I was gassed" is something he should know better than airing to the public.

Weaver would have kept throwing till his arm fell off if his velo stayed up, really miss that kind of verocity in the Halo clubhouse.
