If you're Perry, who are you asking for in exchange for Ohtani?

If Perry can somehow just off load Rendons contract for Ohtani, that would be a dream scenario

So you’d be ok giving away Ohtani just so Arte can save money?  Because you aren’t getting players of value back if you include Rendon’s contract. I don’t give a shit if Arte has to pay him. But trading Ohtani and getting nothing back would be worse than letting him walk in free agency.

How many quality pitchers/players could the Angels sign if Rendon $ is freed up?

probably better players than what anyone would give in a late season trade

Rendon constant trips to the DL (bad luck or whatever) are bogging down the entire team.

You’re right. We could round out our rotation with 3 more Tyler Andersons with that $38 million a year. Where do we sign up for that option?

It's not only getting out from under the albatross that is Rendons contract... it is also getting rid of of a constant presence of a "can't do" attitude that has permeated the ranks, and manifests in mental mistakes, inability to execute basic baseball tasks, and overall lack of effort.

Why do you think the players are impacted like that?  That’s not on Rendon that’s on individual players.

Human psychology and potential for resentment of being on a team with someone not pulling their weight.

IMO It's disruptive to team building.  In normal (non contract involved) circumstances "said person" would be removed by mgmt.

So we agree a Nevin isn’t good at managing the clubhouse. You’ve come a long way.

Nice try. I basically said Nevin was handcuffed due to contractual obligations to The albatross and cancer of the team

We both agree then, he isn’t up for the challenge of getting the most out of his team. Again congrats.

That would be a winner.

When will the angels be ready to compete? Three, four years?

Look for guys a few years off.

It would be MUCH longer if they traded Ohtani and got nothing back because you included Rendon.

Seriously though, the more I look at it, the more I think it'll be Baltimore. Kjerstad, Hall and Beavers for Ohtani.

Ohtani makes them just as likely as Tampa Bay or Texas to win in the playoffs. And as for the Angels, Kjerstad plays corner OF and 1B immediately, Hall goes to the bullpen to see major league hitters before jumping into the rotation next year and Beavers goes to AA where he can group together with the likes of Quero, Paris and son enough Schanuel, forming the next wave of Angels prospects.
