Oh, wow, didn't realize until Erica Weston just mentioned it that Reid Detmers' dad played in the minors for St. Louis.  He had a couple of pretty decent seasons early on before falling apart as he proceeded up the chain:

LIttle loss of focus cost him. He had two outs and then lost his control, over compensated and got crushed. It happens but it would be better if those home runs were solo shots.

Davidson would be fresh to pitch multiple innings.....but maybe they want Canning to get himself straightened out.....

They need 5 or more innings out of him.

68 pitches from Canning and they still have a 6-run lead.  No reason to go to the bullpen yet, even if they're rested.  Have him go at least one more inning, if not two.

I would cut the guy some slack all things considered. He got through 5 and likely pitches much different with a different score.

That should close the book on Canning although he should have pitched better he got them 5 complete. I'm thinking it's Barria time to log a couple of innings.

Neither team is happy with his calls. He is completely random as to his strike zone and calls the same pitch two different ways. This guy could be replaced by any minor league umpire and it would be an improvement.
