Thaiss is a barely passable reserve C.  His bat may play better as a reserve 1B-DH-OF.  He should only catch in an emergency.

They signed him like 2-3 days into the season.

Not sure why MLBTR is so behind.

Anyway, I think they made this move for AAA depth behind Wallach and Mulrine. They're using Christian Molfetta (who had been at HiA) as their bullpen catcher. Last year, they used Colby Fitch (who had AAA experience). Once he builds up, Okey fills that role.
