Back when I was in grade school my brother used to work at Marie Calenders and brought home tins with leftover pie. On the weekend I would put those in my bike bag and with my best friend we would ride to downtown Fullerton, drop off the tins for 10 cents apiece. 

That money along with saved up milk money afforded us a lunch by buying a can of soda at the liquor store and across the street tacos from Taco Bell on Harbor Blvd.

That was its own food group in the south. I haven't seen RC on the shelves in years. It's still made, but not widely available.
