The number of available ICU beds in Orange County seem to be consistently fine.

That's not the chart I'd look at to gauge ICU bed availability, but y'all do indeed have decent capacity right now. The thing is that this can explode, and quickly. Furthermore, there may be capacity, but with increased bed occupancy comes altered staffing ratios and circumstance-determined rationing/direction of care.

If people want to get back to some semblance of normal, they need to do what they can to reduce transmission.

I disagree. I think the only way we get past this is through herd immunity. I have about as much faith in a vaccine ridding the planet of this virus as I do the Federal Reserve raising rates. I don’t care what promises scarf lady and Dr. Keebler make.

Because her commentary on the photo she did post would be far more valid, had she.

Fair enough, I guess.

I kinda think it's the imagery of a guy covering his eyes, plugging his ears and wearing a token of political allegiance that drives her commentary.

You're not wrong that mass gatherings are super bad through at this point.

You actually agree, you just don't know it. I'm not suggesting lockdowns.

Herd immunity, if it can be achieved, can be reached without unleashing a tidal wave of cases that overwhelms the system's ability to adequately care for those that do get sick and need to be hospitalized.

That’s why I believe things have to be handled on a local level. Places like OC should be opened up until our hospitals start to become overwhelmed. The way Newsom is starting to handle it is improving (county by county basis).

About time you said something reasonable

That makes zero sense and I never understood it. I can drive 10 minutes to the next county if my county is on lockdown to a bar and either give the virus to that county or bring in back to my county. That’s the problem with local and even state handling. If states can’t stop people from coming it defeats the purpose of a lockdown if people can just go to next state over.

Unfortunately with the way things are trending another lockdown is inevitable.

I think you're correct that it should be handled at a local level, but with considerable coordination in highly populated areas. LA and OC should be doing just about the same thing as one another. I think that it also should vary state to state. In a place like California, it makes sense to split it up. In a smaller place that's filled with idiots like Missouri, it's likely best that they all be told exactly what to do as they can barely tie their own shoes or brush their teeth without assistance. There's a reason we tuck those people away in that location.

What's really crushing to me about this situation in Texas is that due to people acting like total idiots, the previous lockdown was all for naught. People are so selfish. We had really managed to keep things rather chill here. We're preparing for the worst case.

Wait until next year when there's no vaccine and we are on our 4th wave of it

It’s not just Texas people are like that all over the country. People screening my freedom during lockdown, people screening my rights not wanting to wear masks. That’s why I don’t believe in local lockdowns, those people will just go to a different locality or state and ruin it for those that follow the lockdown.

This virus either ends in November or Biden wins and it becomes the emergency needed to fully implement all the socialist entitlement programs.

Honestly, if a single payer healthcare system is what comes out of all of this, I’d be quite good with it.

This virus is nothing but political to you.

Do you really think Biden is in his basement to save lives ? All these dem politicians locked everyone down until a racist virus broke out. Suddenly they cheered as thugs looted in the streets. They even joined several protesters. The party of the black man encouraging black Americans to gather in the streets with the supposedly  deadliest pandemic in 100 years. Either the dems truly hate blacks or the virus is being exaggerated a bit. Since corona has emerged every other ailment known to man has decreased. 120k dead with corona and every other disease is -30k combined. We need to put things in perspective and protect the elderly. I’m ok with mask wearing in enclosed environments but stop over estimating mask  effectiveness. Ultimately it is the distance.  Material, fit, and cleanliness all play a role and most mask wearers are failing in at least one of those areas.

I’m against it but i believe it will be priority number one for Dems

I get ya. I’m just in the camp of feeling like I could be bankrupted by med bills at any time despite being firmly middle class. I don’t think that’s a good thing to say about a society.
